The Danger Humans Play on Wildlife- Deforestation

Do you know what the #1 cause of land loss, or deforestation, is? Us. Humans have become the main reason for destruction on ourselves, on the world, our economy, our lives. What problem could have been avoided if simply had not been greedy? We realized our destruction after the Industrial Revolution where we polluted the air that we breathe.  But what change has happened since then? We still destroy the land we walk on by destroying the rainforests that give us a substantial amount of air. They are being cut down for our own personal use: increases in food, making oil from palm trees, land use for cattle, etc. Slowly by surely, we are cutting down 18.7 million acres of rainforests, almost 27 football fields per minute. Can you imagine the pure carnage of it all? Millions of trees being cut down, burned, dying because of the increased warmth due to Global Warming. What about the animals to whom the jungles are home too. Orangutans, an extant species of great apes, are now classified under Critically Endangered species list because their home is being destroyed. Why consume when we can give? Why take when we can share? Look for a baby Orangutan (the closest to me is Fresno Chaffee Zoo) and think to yourself, because of my species they will never be in their natural home.
